Key Account Manager (KAM)

Responsibilities

The Key Account Manager is accountable for achieving agreed commercial objectives and sales targets through integrated account plans. Their role is to focus on the broader commercial strategy and develop patient-centric solutions based on patients’ and healthcare professionals’ perspectives. The KAM will be required to understand the national market access landscape and evolving payer market and engage with customers using health economic tools and approaches. They will also be responsible for key opinion leader and decision maker mapping and working with the EU regional office in developing a local healthcare market access strategy. Their role is to develop and deliver an agreed annual key account strategic business plan and ensure effective co-ordination of resources and activities to deliver the key account plans. The position will report to the European Head of Commercial.

This is a unique opportunity to contribute to establishing the organisation from the beginning and to play a key role, as part of the EU Team, in the development of our client in Europe. This role will demand an ability to work strategically and operationally in equal measures and the right person will possess an entrepreneurial and innovative spirit and be able to cope with ambiguity. There’s a lot to do – so high energy levels, a hands-on approach and a sense of humour will be required.

 

Job Requirements

Along with demonstrated initiative, resourcefulness and a results-oriented mindset, the ideal candidate has:

  • Minimum 5 years as a KAM working with hospital specialist brands
  • Selling HIV products in hospital/secondary care settings
  • Self-starter, able to work independently and in a team environment
  • Excellent communication, presentation, facilitation skills
  • Passion for making a meaningful difference to patients
  • Willingness to challenge the status quo when appropriate and find new solutions that reflect the quality customers expect
  • Ability to operate and collaborate within a matrix environment with shared accountability and responsibilities
  • Significant track record of successful product launches and achieving market access
  • Thorough understanding of national/local health system
  • Ability to maintain high level of ethics and compliance standards
  • Credibility with KOLs and health system personnel
  • High capacity to absorb, understand and communicate complex information to key opinion leaders (KOLs), other Healthcare Professionals (HCPs), patient groups and payers
  • Highly customer focused with an awareness of the importance of business results
  • Ability to effectively balance field time and administrative duties
  • Specialist product/orphan drug launch experience
  • In addition to mother tongue, fluency in English
